Dr. Will Kirby, DO

What do you guys think? He will have exposure, so is it going to be good or bad? Let's just say that he is not a reserve type of person (He actually won Big Brother, but he was the contestant who faked having cancer, so he could get other contestants to feel bad for him). For some reason, I think he might actually try to use a little bit of OMM😉, and actually take the "hands-on" DO philosophy to light.

EWWWWWW! He's gross :barf:

i saw him on Dr. 90210. he's definitely full of himself, but he's made a name for himself as well.

I absolutely LOVED him on Big Brother. He is cocky on Dr. 90210 but I don't think that it will shine any bad light on DO's, if anything it will make a few more people wonder what a DO is.

He acts like a d-bag on Dr. 90210, but he's veryyyyyy business savy. He practices cosmetic dermatology at a regular clinic and also opened a chain of 3 practices called 'Dr. Tattoff,' which are tattoo/laser hair removal clinics and he owns them, but other people work there while he runs his own business. Not only that, but he was smart enough to plug them on Dr. 90210 ... very good business venture in my opinion. Plus, I think it's cool that hes a DO dermatologist (everyone says it's like impossible etc etc - though it's obviously not) and its good coverage for DOs.

Wow, I saw that episode yesterday and didn't even realize he was a DO. I just thought he was a jerk and wouldn't go near him with a 10 ft pole. I doubt it will do anything for DO's, good or bad.

the reason i'm so stoked about an osteopathic education is that it seems to have less of the elitism attitude that some allopathic docs have; can't stand that. this doctor is the exact opposite of what i have experienced w/ do's. i don't know that it will be bad for do's, but it won't be good (in a good way). get what i mean? if someone thinks it's good for do's reputation, then they have different views on morality than i do

Kirby isn't impressive - for me at least. One must realize it's solely entertainment and barely borders on "reality". Dr. Rey is an uber fruitcake, too, so I guess there has to be something controversial or generally disgusting about Dr. Kirby to keep ratings/viewers. Ray and Kirby both have serious psychotic/insecurity issues and that's what makes for great television. For the record, Rey looks like a clown in his expensive suits. Just shows you can't buy true taste.

I'll be the first to admit that I went back and set the Tivo so I could watch the episode in it's entirety just because I was curious to view his representation of the profession. After viewing, I was disgusted by his behavior, albeit very L.A. - So, I guess they succeeded in gaining me as a viewer of that episode at least. I'd categorize Kirby's persona as a train wreck of sorts. His office strip-center front even looked like a cheap bail bondsman's office but it was in a visible area. His failure to display his credentials on his scrubs was disappointing (he used the generic "Dr. Will Kirby") as well. Kudos to him though for hanging in with the ranks of that LA "society" - if that's something with which anyone should be proud to aspire.

The most disgusting scene was when he was out with his friends who were idolizing him and stroking his fragile ego. He has some nerve to say that "Everyone should want to come back as Dr. Kirby in their next life" - or some variation, and that's just the start of his rant on how "great" he thinks he is...

"One great big festering neon distraction,
I've a suggestion to keep you all occupied.

Learn to swim."

We're on the same page. 👍

Overall prediction: NO IMPACT to the D.O. profession.
