Other OT-Related Information Good OT schools that start in January

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Cal Sttate Dominguez Hills and I believe West Coast University both offer fall starts!

Touro NY campus begins in February and applications are due this June.

Eastern Michigan Univ has a very good MOT program which starts in Jan.(app due Aug 1) It is NOT in the OTCAS, and instead of a traditional app, you submit a portfolio binder. You DO need to have taken the GRE and they state on their site that it should be taken by June 30 to make sure the scores are sent in time. Also of note: they give preference to those who attend one of their info sessions (bring a copy of your transcripts). Good Luck!

I think it is difficult to qualify "good" can you tell us more about what geographical areas you would be interested in (or are you willing to move anywhere in the US)? As well as if you are more interested in a research or clinical based curriculum? OTD or MSOT/MOT/MAOT programs?

But in general I would search for schools with multiple admissions dates per year. St. Augustine comes to mind.

I believe Concordia does in Wisconsin (it's a blended program), as well as some programs in the UK. Their programs are around 40k for internationals, so they're pretty "cheap"!

Brenau's Norcross, GA campus starts in January and doesn't require the GRE. It's in OTCAS and i believe the application deadline is coming up soon

Hello there!
I was accepted into a program, but because of some things that happened I probably will not be attending. I am looking into some other programs that begin in January because I need to get this going.

I have a good resume and put much time into it. I understand how the pre-reqs work and differ depending on colleges, but that isn't an issue for me as I have the majority of all pre-req classes (even medical terminology which is a requirement for BU). However, I have not done GREs.

More so, I am unsure about Doctorate...it was just voted (contrary to what colleges are telling people) that a doctorate will not be required for a LONG time. Even so, those with Master's will be grandfathered in, however I can see myself maybe going to academia route in the future (therefore Doctorate would be worth it in that case).

What are some January-starting colleges that people would recommend?

Colleges will probably stop offering the MOT and only offer the OTD. They will make mad $$$.

University of ST Augustine has 3 start dates so one is Jan. 3 campuses.

The likelihood that colleges will stop offering MOT and just switch to only OTD is slim especially now since AOTA isn't moving towards OTD as entry level.... maybe a few will (some already have), but most won't at least not anytime soon...

Hahaha I was being a bit obtuse with my MOT to OTD statement.

Is there anything new from the potion they had from 2014? I thought 2025 was their target date to start the transition.

You all have been so helpful thus far!

I would like to go to more of a clinical school, but I feel this is conflicting because one day I would like to become a professor and I understand research will be a big part of that (as is all tenure-track).

That's interesting! I wish I knew which schools.

The search continues. I was hoping to find January start dates but I haven't completed the GREs yet, nor do I wish to. West Coast University seemed pretty cool, but the others either cost a boat load or require GREs.
