25 y/o non-traditional canadian student that graduated a year ago. Realized in my last year of undergrad in social sciences after slacking off and partying the entire time that I wanted to be a doctor. My cGPA is a 2.7, but my GPA for the last year is a 3.9.
Considered doing a second degree at a Canadian school, but I went to a specialty arts high school so don't even have the science pre-reqs to get into a Canadian science second degree school. (I took general science and got high A's but never took the specialty bio, chem, etc in high school) I took anatomy & physiology in my last year of university, and got an A+ in both courses.
Money & time isn't an issue, but I'm not willing to do high school courses because I know I can pass and excel in the basic science courses. I was wondering if anyone knew of any post-bacc programs (Harvard extension looks good right now, but not sure they accept international applicants) that would be good for those in this same situation? I have a ton of on campus involvement, work experience, international volunteer experiences, and life experience that I know would put me above a lot of other med school applicants, but my GPA is killing me and I haven't written the MCAT yet.
Carib schools are a very last resort because I (right now at least) want to go into peds which I know is going to get more competitive and I don't have the undergrad courses to get into the big 4. Any advice is helpful!
Thanks!
(Quick edit: Sharing this account with my friend who got into med school, incase you notice other posts from me =) )
