Greetings, all!

Im currently a high school senior and was invited to apply for a DO early assurance program in my state. I have knowledge of Osteopathy but most of my knowledge lies in Allopathic medicine, as this is where most of my time spent shadowing and interning has been. I was wondering if anyone had any good books or resources for me to read up on about osteopathic medicine, as well as any general information on the specialties open to doctors of osteopathic medicine. Thanks so much for your help!

To save some animosity and other things from our not so savory residents.

In practice , there's not that much difference. DOs learn OMM.

There is some bias against DOs come post medical school training(residency). There is some specialties where it is almost impossible for a DO to achieve.

So to close , if the program locks you into a school , don't go for it, keep your options open

Thanks for the link throwaway2468 🙂

No problem! It helped put a lot of things in perspective for me when I started to look into DO schools. Truth be told, I definitely skimmed through that PDF the few days leading up to my interview date as well. It helped me remember terminology other than “hands-on”, “manipulation”, and “holistic” 😉

I mean ya, MD's won't have bias applying to competitive residencies, but you're all forgetting something... MD's can't Texas Twist.😉
