I never took a neuroanatomy or neuroscience course in undergrad so I really liked the Clinical Neuroscience made Ridiculously Simple book. Quick read over winter break, and it gave me a good brief overview of neuroanatomy.

Some of my classmates liked Neuroanatomy Through Clinical Cases by Hal Blumenfeld. I'm not a textbook person, but this book has some good charts.

Neuroanatomy in Clinical Context: An Atlas of Structures, Sections, Systems, and Syndromes by Duane E. Haines has decent pictures of brain slices. This is the lab manual we used for our neuroanatomy lab.

Some people really liked Najeeb's video for neuroanatomy, but I found them to be too slow. Boards and Beyond has some good simple videos.

I don't know if there's any good resources for MSK. I just used my class lectures and occasionally First Aid.

Look into the CompleteAnatomy App and then purchase one of their courses. It’s a good overview of what the anatomy is prior to getting lectures/anatomy lab. Once again it’s really only useful as a preview.

If you are having trouble building the basics for neuro. Dr. Najeeb is very good at neuroanatomy for explaining the most basics. Then from there you can have a good foundation for the lectures. I just watched the lectures that corresponded beforehand.

Sounds silly, but first year (and second year) the neuro coloring book helped me figure out some of the crazy pathways. Didn’t have much time for it, but when I did it was both useful and mildly entertaining.

if you read that will you be ready after? for neuro?
It is a video series. I wouldn’t recommend watching it before hand. If your PhD who’s teaching forgets you are a beginner then pop on the one that’s pertinent to the lecture. It will give you a good foundation starting from the bottom up.
