im a pgy2 interested in psychosomatics, wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a good evidence based, up to date book on the science and treatment of sleep. Looking to get into the weeds and learn about sleep architecture and stuff.

You can't go wrong with going to the AASM website and reading all the Practice Parameters.
Especially the most recent guidelines for pharmacological management of insomnia, which is a litany of the word "WEAK" used to describe evidence for about every sedative-hypnotic you can think of.
 
"Why We Sleep" by Matthew Walker, Ph.D.. Written for general public but the author has published a lot of studies.
