I'm looking for a good book to learn Spanish from. I took it in high school several years ago but don't remember much. So I'm looking for something to learn the basics pretty quickly, so I don't want something too easy. If anyone can recommend a good textbook/workbook that they used, that would be awesome! Thanks

Are you only interested in learning to read and write Spanish? I'm asking because I had been pretty reliant on using my college text book (Hablemos Espanol) and, even though I progressed with my reading and writing, my speaking and listening schools are poo.

I'm now using Rosetta Stone and attending Spanish language meetup (http://www.meetup.com/) groups in my city to address my crappy speaking and listening skills.

Just out of curiosity, did you put that you speak spanish on you app?

No, I didn't put it on my app because I'm not applying for another two years. I just want to learn it because I want to get a job in a clinic that sees a lot of spanish speaking patients and I have also been to many spanish speaking countries for mission trips, and plan to do so in the future, so I desperately need to learn spanish. I heard rosetta stone doesn't teach you how to use grammar or anything, just learning different phrases. Is that right?

I would say that is partially true. I think the aim of Rosetta is for you to understand the grammar implicitly through the lessons.
