This thread is for those of us who have good stats in some areas and other stats that are not so great... what to do?

Here's my situation:

Overall GPA: 3.2
Science GPA: 3.2
BCP: 3.3

AA: 20
TS: 22
Bio: 21
GC: 24
OC: 22
PA: 22
QR: 18
RC: 14 😕

Certain schools say Reading is a very important section to them, others say they don't focus on that section. After evaluating what schools like to see, I applied to the following:

Nova
NYU
BU
Lecom
A.T. Still
Creighton
Western

I'd love to hear what anyone thinks and what similar situations others are in.

personally, I think your GPA will hurt you just as bad. A 3.2 is on the low end these days. But hey, that's my opinion. Best of luck.

i think you might be ok at the schools you have listed. im assuming you applied early, so you might get picked!

Yes I applied early.. I submitted my app June 2. I took two summer classes and got two A's. That will bring my GPA up a tiny bit. I'm taking 3 classes in the fall and I'll get straight A's... But academic update isn't until November. May be too late for a significant increase in GPA by then.

i see. if i were you i would have applied after my senior year since it sounds like your classes are a little easier and you'll be getting A's. your GPA would move about .2, and having a 3.4 would open many more doors than your 3.2, since your DAT is actually pretty good, besides the one section that no one really knows if its important or not

I feel your pain.
I got 19 in RC on my first two DATs, but the scores expired while I was enrolled in a MSc program. So, I had to retake it and ended up with a 16 RC- AA/TS: 20.

I suggest you call some of the schools and make sure they don't have cut offs.

Yah your GPA is weak, and RC is perhaps one of the most important sections....a 14 will definitely hurt you. You need to retake.

im in the exact same shoes as you (15 RC not that much better lol) but i believe the thing that will hurt you beside that is your 3.2 GPA. Understand that that GPA isnt bad but its not competitive for Dental Schools now. The one thing that is somewhat is my GPA...add USC and ASDOH to your list

Good Luck :xf:

Thanx for the advice. USC has a cutoff... I believe it's either a 15 or 16+ on every section. That's why I didn't apply there.

Most schools will reject you if you have a RC score less than 17. having QR less than 17 is okay but not RC

lol we are on the same boat.

Ouch that RC score and your GPA will hurt you badly.
Many of those schools will reject you based on those 2 numbers.

But then again, I hear Nova accepts students based on looks. Are you good looking? ; )
