Good Step 1 score for CA residency?

Hello,

MS2 here, really hoping to get a CA residency; right now I'm considering peds, along with IM and ob/gyn, and was wondering what was considered competitive in CA, especially norcal?

Is even Kaiser very competitive for primary care just because it's in CA, or do you think their Step 1 averages will be closer to the national average? Just trying to figure out what scores I should aim and study for

You should aim for the highest score possible, because it will keep doors open for you. There is no magic number that will include or exclude you from programs.
