Good text for rotation?

Hi,

I will be taking Neuro very early in my 3rd year (2nd rotation, right after OB). I know it is risky taking this before having medicine, but I am interested in the field, and want to test that interest before mid 4th year, which would be my next chance.

I am wondering if anyone has suggestions for a good book that I can read so that I don't look like an idiot next to the 4th years that I will be rotating with? I was hoping for something a little more substantial than a review book like Blueprints, since I really want to learn this stuff. (However, at this point I don't have time to read several long texts on Neuropath, Imaging, etc -- basically resident texts -- which have been suggested elsewhere.)

Any other advice would be really appreciated as well! Thanks-

The Lange text "clinical neurology" is pretty solid and more detailed than Blueprints. It should be doable in a month. I've also recently been reading Neuro Secrets and I like it, but that might be better once you've already gotten a bit of a foundation down. Good luck.

I agree with the Lange recommendation. It is a solid choice, and a new edition was just released.

Lange book is the best one out there, but I think it's format sort of sucks. I highly recommend the House Officer Series. Good book to read while on the wards or have down time or taking a dump. 😀
