This site was posted on the TPR boards - you can enter your MCAT scores, GPA, and state of residence and it spits out the schools that you are less competitive, competitive, or very competitive at (and it also gives you a numerical competitiveness). According to their website, they use an algorithm that takes into account the average GPA/MCAT at the school, your GPA/MCAT, and the ratio of in state/out of state acceptances for the school.

Not sure how accurate their equation is, but it seems pretty close - many of the schools I am competitive at are schools to which I applied. I certainly would not recommend using this as a blind indicator of where to apply, but it might be a good place to start.

that was an entertaining site but i would be worried if that was really how future doctors are deciding where to go for medical school :) anyway i am sure all these 2002 applicants will appreciate this site.

btw i was accepted at a -1.7 school and interviewed at a -2.7 school (i was listed competitive at both) but not even given an interview at a 1.7 school (very competitive).
    so you never know....

pretty cool little site, but i have a gpa of 3.5 and an mcat of 32 and it listed me competitive at pretty much every school out there, even harvard, johns hopkins, duke, mayo, etc.

i am a positive person, but i just do not see harvard knocking on my door! anyhow, thanks for the fun info.

    chao :D

I would not trust this site. It said I was "very competitive" at schools that are notorious for not accepting ANY out of staters, like Cal-Davis, Cal-Irvine, etc. Apparently it doesn't weed out those.
