Goodbye WikiTestPrep.org
Started by webEmDee
WikiTestPrep ceased operations January 1st, but it took them till yesterday to put the site down. It was an honest effort by well-meaning people and a great free resource for cash strapped students. WikiTestPrep you will be missed.
what a shame, what was the reason?

I've never heard of the site before, but I'm guessing they reproduced copyrighted test prep materials on their website.
EDIT: Nevermind, looks like they just ran out of money.
damn, i wonder is there any way to get a copy of the questions they had up.

I haven't checked, but I usually try archive.org to recover old websites.

No, they didn't. They made questions themselves and had a small "board" that would review and approve all questions. Despite doing this for free, they had accumulated nearly 650 questions. You could mix and match and customize your own "tests" just like UWORLD, and all questions had nice explanations below. It was the best free resource for Step1/2CK.
@coretayloris: I was wondering the same thing. Maybe someone else could pick up where they left off?
how would you do that?
id defo be interested, you can never have enough question banks

I'm all for the bittorrent idea. But does anybody have access to the questions that were on the site? Or better yet, the software that was used to run the site? Did anyone copy down all of the questions? Or Does anyone know the people who were behind it?
Looks like the robots.txt file may have prevented a service like archive.org from crawling it:

The best bet may be trying to get a hold of the person/people who ran the site, ask if they have any suggestions.

Actually they seem to have put their Qbank in a PDF format: http://www.wikitestprep.org/
Very cool. Even cooler? Being done with step 1!
