I was using mozilla firefox for as long as I remember and was very happy with it, but as of 1 month ago its loading time was unacceptable. When Internet Explorer 7 was faster, I knew something was wrong. Tried the regular stuff, even uninstalled it and decreased the number of open tabs, etc, but that kind of defeats the purpose. Finally I moved to chrome.

Chrome acted great for the first few days, but it then pages wouldn't load or take forever. Since this was a problem reported by many people who made the switch to chrome (that initially it worked well and then just stopped), here's what works well to solve the problem. (I tried many steps suggested on online forums, but this one works and should save you some time

1- Under Options -> Under the hood, UNCHECK enable pre-DNS fetching. Without getting too technical, when it's checked, ie, when chrome is "fetching", it's the equivalent of it trying to take an extra-large bite then choking on its own vomit. Uncheck it and your pages will load quickly, blazingly quickly (faster even than firefox when it worked well).

2- Optional step, but some say it helps. Clear browsing data. I do not have a way of knowing how much memory chrome allocates for saved web pages/ browser history, etc., unlike IE 7 (if you know do tell me)
