It might. I would send a continued interest letter or email to the schools you are interested in. Also mention the fact you got a 4.0 this semester and provide some documentation to back that up. I wouldnt expect too much because its only one semester, but its worth a shot.

sure a 4.0 is a great GPA, but it really depends if you got that high in your last 2 years of Uni/college.
Besides that, the DAT scores also play a big part - perhaps one quarter worth of acceptance? and then there is still EC to account for.
While a 4.0 is great, there are still more aspects to the application.
