Firstly, I'd like to thank God. Then A.O. Then, SDN. Thank you SDN soooo much. For all the tips and advice and what not -- I owe you a big thank you. Thanks to all the members and the DAT discussions section for the help. I'd also like to thank my mom, my dad, all my fans, the academy... 😉

Seriously, here's my story, for all those who are borderline.. dont lost hope.

GPA: 3.0
SCI: 2.9
DAT AA/TS/PAT: 22/23/16

I applied to 5 east coast schools.. interviewed and rejected from state school of nj. I thought all hope was lost and started telling everyone I'm reapplying. All of a sudden I get a call from nyu for an interview. Interviewed at NYU this month, got my email today!

Only thing I'm worried about is debt factor, since I'm middle class as hell, but I guess I'll get through it (Inshallah).

Take care, and thanks!

Congratulations!

you mean you're gonna be $300,000 in debt too???

Congratulations!!! 👍 U made it. I know debt could be a big issue but hey u r not the only one in this shoe, besides i'm sure there were other students who went through the same path. If Allah open this path for u, he will bless you the strength u need as well. No worries!

Because God guides and directs us and gives us the strength to do ALL things! 🙂

Does God also guide the lives of those millions of children born in situations beyond their control. Some of whom are born with AIDS and don't even have a chance to think about dental school and a life that you take for granted. Or does he guide the life of the child who is sold into prostitution by his own mother in order to pay for her crack addiction. I can’t understand how people can believe in a god and that he guides and helps them, when obviously he’s not helping those people in more of a need than simply getting into dental school. If you do believe in this higher power, I think if you become a dentist you should donate your time to volunteer and help others less fortunate than you in order to show your “God” that you didn’t waste his strange fondness for you rather than the starving African girl who lives in misery each day.

Hi Gl4di4tor,

I, too, am an atheist and agree with the points you made. However, I don't think that this is the correct forum on which to attempt to get people to question their beliefs. Religion, just like politics, are topics that should be avoided at all costs in most situations.

Seriously, I wish people thought about this more. I don't want to turn this discussion into a religion thing, but I can't stand it when people credit God for everything they have and accomplish. I hate it especially when they tell me to thank God for everything I have. I think its just by chance I was fortunate not to be born a victim of a certain disease in the poorer countries. There's nothing to say that I deserved better than they did, and I couldve easily been in their paths by chance. "God" can only do so much for you.

Thanks everyone for the support. And no I'm not persian.

My extracurriculars: I had worked several jobs, done like 3 research projects, and I had participated in clubs. Nothing too crazy. Usually busy working.

Regarding God, well the whole concept is that there is an afterlife so that those that suffer now will get their reward later. Sure its easy for me to say this, but I'm just telling you what I believe.

Dentwanabe first of all Congrats! I completely understand your situation, I was accepted at my state school without condition and didnt go to a lot of other interviews and then a month ago they told me they want me to retake my DAT to get one pt higher in one section.....I was very angry, considering it wasn't in my acceptance letter! That same day I got an interview at USC so I decided to go and yesterday I got accepted🙂 Now im confused because I was planning on retaking my DAT in a week, but now I want to go to California but the debt is gonna kill me but Insh'Allah 😉 I'll get through it...I wish you the best of luck 🙂

I think it's also better to keep religious terms out of inappropriate forums.

Congratulations Dentwannabe. See you in the fall.....

does this God also guide the pedophile and the serial killer and directs them to certain children and victims and on top of that gives them the strength to molest the child or to slaughter the innocent?...just wondering, no offense
