Well I already knew about a month ago over the phone that I was waitlisted here. So, today I am out with my mom, having a nice lunch - and finally chopping off all my hair for Locks of Love (sooo scary) and we get a call that a letter has arrived from LECOM.

After interviewing in September, and about 4-5 months later, I opened up the envelope to find... my waitlist letter. God. I thought it might be better news.

Tease. Not cool.

The wait continues. 🙁

Whoa I feel your pain. That hurts. Good Luck Jezz!

Good luck but don't do this to us again. Don't end the thread like you did. I thought you were accepted. :luck:

Aww, Jezzielin, I thought you were going to say you were accepted. 🙁

:luck: :luck:

I'm sorry:-(

Yeah LECOM sure takes their time. I'm still waiting for my deferral letter- but I'm not expecting it until late April (that's what I hear anyway), so they probably won't review the waitlist until then too.

Hopefully we'll both have some good news then:-D

Sorry Jezz, we could just kill all the other applicants...I mean...umm ahah :meanie: . Stick in there, people are turning down seats every day! 👍

Hey,
I got my acceptance to LECOM-Erie in late Dec. and paid my deposit because it was my first acceptance, but I was accepted today @ PCOM-GA. So I'm giving up my seat at Erie and I hope that you get it. 🙂 If you don't it's not the end of the world. Last year I was waitlisted at KCOM, WVSOM, and VCOM, but I replaced a deficient Biochem grade on my transcript with an A. I got acceptances LECOM, PCOM-GA, and VCOM. Don't give up and don't soak up the negativity that is out there. Good Luck, I'm sure that you are going to make a great doctor! 🙂

I got accepted to LECOM-Erie last month, but will be turning down my seat so I can do a one-year Medical Masters degree program. Maybe you will get my seat. I'm also in SE Michigan, so as one SE Michigander to another I hope you get it.

Bless you!

Can anyone tell me if people turn down an acceptance or interview, does LECOM make up for that by sending out more invites/acceptances to new people or do they give those spots to us on the waitlist? 😕

Sorry to hear about your problem. Hang in there! Med school is one big fat waiting game! 👍

Sorry to hear you got waitlisted but there's still hope. Doesn't LECOM take a lot of students from the waitlist every year? I was hoping you'd get in. I'd join you in Erie if you get accepted... but now I guess I'm back to deciding 🙂 . :luck:

Aww thanks! 🙂 We'd have a great time! We shall see! So you still haven't decided yet? I saw alot of your posts and it seems like you were really on the fence about LECOM and WVSOM.

I was wondering the same thing about LECOM. When I was at CCOM they told us that people who turned down acceptances while still in the admissions cycle would simply be made up by more interview invites, but seats declined after the cycle are filled by the "alternate list." I believe this is also done at LECOM-Erie, based on millions on enigmatic fragments I have been able to eek out of the Admissions Office. Hang in there, and be as optimistic as possible! 🙂

In that case, those turning down LECOM - WAIT TILL THE END OF THE INTERVIEW CYCLE .... please! 😳

I'm right next door in Allen Park. 😀

Good luck with LECOM. If you get in, you can do some of your rotations at Henry Ford Hospital in Wyandotte, LECOM has an affiliation with them.

Allen Park? Wow, so close! Yea I know this is part of the reason I love this school!

Does anyone have any other comments on my question posed above about how LECOM deals with declined acceptances???

I sent deposits to both schools so I still have 'til March 15th to decide 🙂 . It's a tough/important decision. I won't give up my seat, if I decide to, until the end of the application cycle so maybe that'll help someone on the alternate list.
