Just got Case....

dude...Case's app SUUUUCKS...definitely putting that one off until later (which is becoming a bad habit)

also, is anyone else having trouble with their premed committee? my stupid committee won't forward my file to my recommendation writer because they are missing a mock interview that i can't get b/c all the committee people are out of town.

But that is New Jersey Medical School which is part of the University of Medicine and Dentistry New Jersey system.

In other words UMDNJ-NJMS and UMDNJ-RWJMS are the two NJ state schools.

Well the bright side is that they don't involve essays, so if you do end up getting one it won't require much work. Maybe Dr.guy22 or MochaMD or beponychick can tell you how things work there and whether or not they give it to in state or out of state people only.

I have no committee, but my PI at my lab is pissing me off. She's very scatterbrained, and is spending all her time working on a paper for publication (which I'm in, so i don't really want to slow that down), writing grant proposals, and working on LORs and dissertations of two of our grad students. I don't care if they're graduating and want jobs, I WANT MY LOR! Once she caught up, she took last week off! Didn't tell anyone at my lab, just went to the lake and didn't return till monday.

She's very scatterbrained, and is spending all her time working on a paper for publication (which I'm in, so i don't really want to slow that down), writing grant proposals, and working on LORs and dissertations of two of our grad students. By email. They want two 1 page essays. One about research, the other a one page essay on the non-medically related topic of your choice.

Fortunately, ive written one of the essays by stiching together stuff I've already written about my research (from proposals). But yeah, I dont know what I'm gonna do about the other one. Im definitely not above procrastination on essay secondaries.

Although, I could apply to 10 of my schools without ever having to write an essay...

once you upload your picture, it's gone! you can't go back, you can't redo it, you can't change it. it gets sent and that's it.

so, if you think it'd be funny to try and send a pic in you taking a bong hit or doing a keg stand, and then changing it later, DON'T.

I gotta say guys, as i'm writing these secondaries, i find myself more creative than other times of my minute prosing career. I'm pulling things out of thin air so fast i have no clue where this hidden talent has been.

Of course, I've only started writing my essays. I bet by this weekend, i'll be so sick of these already.

I think you can write about anything so long as it isn't medically related. I'm probably going to write about birdwatching, scuba or aurora hunting. I'm a huge beer advocate but don't think they'd want to hear about that.

I got Case's yesterday. It doesn't look THAT bad... is this as bad as it gets? With Stanfords 17 or 19 page secondary notwithstanding?

I haven't gotten Penn's yet... but since it's a non-screened, it is only inevitable.

I got Georgetown's secondary link today. Also one that everyone gets.

If secondaries are posted by schools in a way that everyone can access it, will the schools still send you an e-mail? I'm assuming yes right?

2. When you state Miami/FAU/no preference- do they look at that when they are weighing your app- or do you get let in first and then assigned to a campus based on preference?

Did you receive the Miami secondary already? Or are you talking about the pre-secondary questionnaire that they send out to everyone about your interest in U-Miami and their website, etc?

Anyone else doing Georgetown's secondary? An entire single-spaced page on why you applied to Georgetown...seriously, the personal statement length...i already wrote an essay only a little longer than that describing my entire philosophy behind pursuing medicine and now i have to crank out the same amount of writing on simply why I selected one school? I think it's a great essay topic, actually, but the length seems a little over the top...eh, just my random vent of the day. back to working on secondaries and telling my boss i'm too busy to take on any new projects at work today. 😀

He's talking about the University of Miami secondary. Generally, the UCs take their sweet time processing applications. I wouldn't worry too much about UCSF.

Settle down...they haven't downloaded ANYONE'S primary and furthermore they will take longer to send out secondaries because they screen.

I need to vent. I'm so frustrated with my school's LOR service. my LOR packet is ready, but my school is soooo freakin slow with sending it. We're starting to use VirtualEval this year, but my school's haven't sent out any letters b/c they're still working out the kinks...how many days does it take to work out kinks??? It's just frustrating to not be able to do anything about it. What's the point of sending secondaries in early if I can't be complete? 😡

THAT... would be me. I worked so hard to get my apps in early and get verified only to realize that my LOR packet wont be ready til as late as mid-sept. All these secondaries are now just sitting in my inbox since theres no point finishing them anytime soon.
