Got Secondaries? part 01

I know this is crazy! Do they screen?

Also, I still have to retake my MCAT - not so stellar start. Should I just try for NW? Or are they one of those schools that say, you should strongly reconsider applying if you don't have "this or that" grades/MCAT.

I *think* northwestern does screen, but I'm not positive. If they do, they screen based on very low numbers. However, I had a friend last year who got a secondary from NW, sent it in, and then got her rejection letter before they even cashed her secondary check! (I remember this b/c she considered putting a stop payment on it, although she never actually did). I don't really know what NW looks for on an app, so I can't help you there.

I think thats crazy. What if someone was on vacation or something? Well, they've just twisted my arm into putting them at the top of hte 'secondary priority list'.

But don't worry about Temple. The only essay is why Temple, so it only takes a few minutes to do the whole thing 🙂

Well set small goals for yourself. Like if you finish this essay you'll go get ice cream or something! Just think how good you'll feel when you're done and in a few months when you're going through all your acceptances and choosing where you want to go to school!

LOL! If I had ice cream for every essay I have to write I'd be extremely 'well rounded' by the end of the summer 😛

Same here- their weird policy about submitting their recommendation form with the letters seems strange. I don't know how many of my professors I will be able to get in touch with to do it.

i havent yet recieved any email or letter from dartmouth, but a google search turned up the following:

it appears that you can submit it even without first hearing from them as there is no code number or password to be entered. that being said, i will wait to submit it until i hear from them.
all in all though, not a terrible secondary. ive certainly seen worse.

At first I didn't understand the email. Apparently they screen before they send out secondaries. http://www.meded.umn.edu/admissions/faq.cfm tells you that "Once an applicant is approved to receive a supplemental application, they are required to pay a $75.00 processing fee."

I would say two different qualities. They want to see how the different aspects of your personality/character will contribute to USC in both areas--the educational environment as well as the entering class.

Same thing happened to me- I was using a different pdf viewer than adobe. Download adobe and it works fine though.

Just go to their site and do it. It's a pdf that you can write on. Very simple secondary, and you don't need permission to do it.

I received the Dartmouth secondary yesterday. If you read the letter they sent, which by the way has a typo, they tell you that they want the secondary typed or word processed. They give you the link in the letter, it is the link that has the typo, to where the secondary is.

The essays are on page 2 of the secondary.

I have already submitted the USC secondary and at first I thought it was just one 250 word paragraph for both A and B, but once I got to the actual online form while I was filling out you get two separate "boxes" to fill out; one for A (250 words) and one for B (250 words); so I would go for two qualities, although mine turned out to be more like two aspects of the same quality/ability... 😱

yay FINALLY got Miami's secondary. (I'm out of state by the way). Here's what it says:

looks like they didn't even screen based on the pre-secondary, but just looked at numbers.

question for people who already did this: they're asking me to describe what i did for the year i'm taking off "in a separate sheet of paper"
what's the length of this description that I should shoot for? any thoughts?
