Does anyone know the policy on sending updated transcripts? I know stanford does not want them sent; are there any other schools that have objections to recieving them?

2 + 6 = 8 required

nope. my classes included the lab in the 3 units somehow.

The hopper doesn't screen, those snail mail ones started coming out about 2 weeks ago. I think I got it earlier because I live in Baltimore. But if it's any consolation, no one else is special either.

They seem to only specify types of letters only if we submit separate ones in place of the committee packet, but I don't know...I hope I'm not missing something! 🙁

I had the same thought, but decided that since I am submitting a packet, the requirements of specific letters from certain types of professors (science, humanitites, grad. school, etc.) probably don't apply to the pre-med committee. I think the reason they want letters from different types of professors is to get more of a feel for who you are outside of science, and hopefully the pre-med committe letters will be doing that. I had LORs written by a bio prof., an orgo prof., a chem prof., and an extra letter by a lab director who I worked for to be submitted to the premed advisors. I could be dead wrong, of course, but hopefully it's okay like this.

i think schools are so thankful to get a committee letter instead of separate letters (they only have to read one thing instead of 3-5) that they are more lenient as to what's in it. that's at least what my prof told me. that's why most schools prefer a committee letter, they just don't have enough time to read more stuff.

I know a few people on here have been acknowledged by UCSF... My AMCAS was processed July 15 or so, and I have yet to receive word that they have my application. When I check my status on their Web site, it says application not received. I'm not a CA resident, so could that be why it is taking so long?

Yeah, I think they sent them to everyone who got above a certain number on their MCAT.

Also, I was verified around July 15th and UCSF hasn't sent word that they've received my app, and the online system doesn't recognize me (out of stater). There was a thread sometime last week where ppl verified even earlier said they also have not been contacted by UCSF. I'm guessing they're just taking their sweet time, and there's no need to worry.

diosa - I have a 38 and haven't heard anything from Pitt, so they're either processing in groups or including factors other than MCAT alone.

Cuddly - I don't think they have a strict MCAT cutoff (based on my own case)

hahahah i laughed when i saw that too.

also, to all those waiting for pitt, i would highly suggest getting started on that ethics/morals essay because that took me a long time to write (can't use an old essay for that one), and i have no morals. just kidding...just took awhile to think of an appropriate example 😳

I actually have. Received it last Friday. I was also verified June 13 or so.

Just rcvd a letter from Wash U in the mail saying my app was complete. I almost stopped breathing because I thought it was a rejection...
Anyhow I wanted to let people know that they are sending these out. No need to shave 5 years of your life like I did when you see the envelope. 🙁

Somebody who has a Drexel secondary should find somebody with the full Adobe Acrobat who's willing to spend the time to convert the file by putting in typeable text boxes and stuff. I think somebody did that for Ros Franklin. Better yet, maybe somebody who GOT the Drexel secondary has the full version of Adobe Acrobat 🙂

I think they mean things during summer break (I guess some people refer to that as school break). At least that's how I interpreted it. And I'm mailing it in now!

Oh my god, i had to go run and get my envelope out of the mailbox at my office after reading this. I totally didnt realize that. This is crazy. I remember when I applied the first time, I definitely sent them a personal check. Maybe we should call and find out for sure.

Welp, I already went to the bank, got a cashier's check and mailed it off... but it pissed me off big time. I don't think I've seen any other school do this so far. I went back and looked through my secondaries for all other schools where I mailed a check just to make sure I didn't miss some fine print.
