I am a transfer student from a cc to a UC. When I was at the cc, due to immaturity and lack of motivation, my gpa accumulated to 3.0 with a 100 something units. I transferred to a UC and my first quarter got a C and a couple of Bs, but ever since then I become motivated and really started studying, and have been getting straight A's since. By the time I graduate, if I can maintain the A's in my classes, my gpa will be about 3.76, which is decent for allopathic schools. However, I downloaded this excel program that will take into consideration both my cc and UC classes and calculate my gpa. it shows that my bcpm, AO, and cum gpa are all roughly about 3.4. What should I do? I'm already spending a 5th year to boost my gpa, I don't want to spend a 6th year.

A 3.4 will be less competitive, but plenty of people still get into med school with that GPA.

i think that if you have a high (30+) MCAT score and have great EC's you should be okay for mid/lower tier schools and maybe your state school.

just make sure to get in as many great EC's as possible, work on that personal statement, and get great LORs

a 3.4 wont look bad if you have a 3.76 after CC. as long as you do alright on the MCAT it shouldn't be an issue.

i think as long as your mcat score is well above 30, you should be fine with that gpa.......
