This might be a really lame and obvious question, but I'm asking it anyway. When someone says "math/science GPA", are they talking about the GPA for only the math and science courses that are pre-reqs? Or are they talking about the GPA for all math and science courses on their transcript (pre-req or not)?

I suppose that its possible every school calculates them differently? PharmCAS hasn't calculated my GPAs yet, and I was just trying to get a handle on which courses they include. I have a Bachelor's in Biology, so I have a LOT of science courses that aren't pre-reqs - just wondering if they would "count"?

Thanks!

Remember when you typed all those science classes into PharmCAS and they asked you what type of class they were, either non-science, science, or math? This is so they can classify these classes into your GPA.

PharmCAS will calculate your GPA in each sub-class and tell you how many credit hours you've taken, quality points you've earned, and what that GPA is.

😕
Are the non-prereq science/math classes included in the science/math GPA, or is it just the prereq classes?

I'm pretty sure that for the science/math gpa, they include all classes that go under that category. Remember that most schools have different prereq requirements. Pharmcas wouldnt go through the troubles of calculating a separate prereq gpa for each individual school. Pharmcas is just a tool to supposedly make it easier for us to apply, and easier for the schools to evaluate us. That's why most schools have supplementals that ask for your prereq classes for their specific school-- so they can calculate it themselves if they wanted.

I hope this is correct. Hope it helps! 😉
