Sorry if this has been already discussed, but I haven't found actual answer for this question.

If 4 credit course was repeated and I got C and then A, will it be 8 credits of B or 4 credits of B ?

Assuming that it will be 4 credits, what if course was repeated at a different instituion and credit hours were different, such as 5 vs 4 ?

it would be 4 credits of a B

if the course was repeated at a different institution the course number would have to be the same (at both schools) for it to have a chance to be averaged. chances are it doesn't have the same course number and because the credits are different too makes these two courses DIFFERENT (even though they share the same course name).

most likely they should be treated as entirely different courses with entirely different grades.
