If I take courses in January and summer, will these grades be included in calculating my gpa? Do dental schools only use Sept-April grades only for gpa calculations? Thanks!!

Do schools drop your worst year if you have done more than 4 years of school?

Your initial GPA calculation/transcript verification will only include classes that actually have a grade on your transcript.

However, there is an academic update period that runs from mid-November until early February that you may resubmit your transcripts and include summer/fall classes if they aren't included initially.

Thanks for the response! So all grades on transcripts are included you don't have to be registered in classes Sept - April?. I have not applied yet so, I am planning on applying next year. I didn't know about the academic update, don't school start sending interview requests in September? So if you are rejected it doesn't matter if you update your transcripts, with fall grades in December right?

Thanks!

As long as there is a grade listed, it will be included. You're supposed to list the classes you will be taking in the future but those are subject to change and doesn't matter too much as you can update during the academic update period. Interviews start earliest in Aug/Sept but go through Feb/March/April so there is still plenty of time post academic update so you should include those fall grades if you aren't in a favorable position come that time (i.e. having pre-December interview invites). You aren't rejected until schools either send you some sort of notification through mail/email/portal OR the school stops handing out interview invites (which comes well into the next year).

Do you know if there is a max amount of credits they use in calculating GPA? Do they use all credits thus far?
