unsure of how this works exactly (just using general number in this example)

Lets say you start your application right after you have received your spring semester grades and to date and you have a 3.5 GPA when you submit your first app. You then take a pretty heavy summer load with 12 or so hours and boost your GPA to a 3.6. Your fall semester, you start interviewing and at the end of your fall semester, you have a GPA of 3.7. Which GPA will most likely be used for your application?

Your AMCAS GPA is your GPA at the time when you submit your app. If you have a 3.5 after 6 semesters, you wont be able to raise it that much w/ the equivalent of 2 semesters even at 4.0. If you want to raise your GPA then delay your app.
