In case some of you are like me and are applying to schools that forgive low GPA's in favor of improved grade trends and high DAT's, I have compiled a list of schools that I'm applying to on AADSAS. In no particular order: If you would like to add or remove a school, feel free to let me know

1. Arizona
2. University of the Pacific
3. Howard University
4. Boston
5. Nova Southeastern
6. Tufts
7. Detroit Mercy
8. UNLV
9. NYU
10. Temple
11. Meharry
12. Marquette
13. Penn
14. Pitt
15. Case Western

Penn is iffy. I heard that they can forgive low GPA's. These are the only schools I'm applying to. I refuse to go to USC. I have heard too many bad things about the school despite them being a GPA forgiving school.

mCATZ!!! i could kiss you... just what the doctor ordered!!!!

Case Western is not a GPA forgiven school, unless you have connection. They also don't give much hoot if you have high DAT and low GPA.

I think UCSF is also forgiven in the GPA regards, if you have DAT in the 21 and above. Good luck with your choice.

But UCSF is pretty much for CA residents though right?

Could you guys with more experience than me talk about what schools would accept students with foreign college degree (but, with a MS in US)? I do appreciate!

really? ucsf is gpa forgiving? yaaay...i hope it really is gpa forgiving.....🙁

Also, don't let Howard or Meharry's acceptance stats fool you... They are looking for underrepresented minorities and not everyone can get in there.

Columbia loves high DATs and they can be very forgiving of GPA issues. Just finish your classwork on the right footing (upward trend) and you'll have a great shot!

mcataz,
That's a pretty good representation of dental schools in the least. It doesn't come across as a list that was made up of "least competitive" schools.

i can't say with certainty, but i think IUSD and UCONN could be on that list as well. my gpa was pretty low and i got pretty far with those 2 schools in the cycle.

and oh BTW, IUSD encourages out of staters to apply. also, if i am not mistaken, UCONN really cares a lot about your AA and Sci. my sci was 21 and they kept bringing it up during the interview.
good luck

i haven't applied, but from my experience, i would take Marquette off that list. it was stated in my marquette questions thread that they simply want stats. so far this is true based on my communication with that school. also, minnesota should be placed on that list. the people there are really cool and have been really encouraging (at least for my situation).

it's all relative to what qualifies as a gpa that needs forgiving though. what do you consider a gpa that needs forgiving?? sub 3.0? 3.0-3.2? 3.3-3.5???

Good point. Come to think of the list it seems that any school could be put there. What exactly is meant by forgiving? How much of a blemish will they forgive?😕

Blankguy, you seem to be so stressed out. What's your GPA?

I would like to affirm IUSD, UDM, Boston, and LLU (if SDA).

Krull,
I Pmed you.

Just do yourself a favor and relax man. Life isn't worth stressing over every little thing. If you get in you will get in. If you don't , just do something else you can do in your life and be productive in it. If you really have the desire to do whatever it takes to get into dental school, I'm sure you will be successful. Don't lose hope and stop stressing so much.

Good Luck to you buddy 🙂
