I haven't been able to find a recent post about this so here's my dilemma:

My cumulative is a 3.23 which I think is good enough for some schools. However, my science GPA is a lot lower than that. Does anyone know how much they consider your science GPA and PreReq GPA?

Thank you!!

Is your science GPA sub-3.0? If so, I would suggest retaking some of your science pre-reqs and shooting for A's. Some schools will consider the higher of the two grades. Also make sure to score well on the OAT.

You are applying to a program that is science-intensive, so naturally, schools will consider your science GPA to assess how well you can handle an optometry school curriculum.

Adcoms look at both cGPA and sGPA.

They will scrutinize sGPA heavier because opto school is extremely heavy in sciences as
@confidentandgood mentioned above.

Just look at first year curriculum for some schools:

http://www.uiw.edu/optometry/academics/curriculumandcoursedescription/firstyear.html

If your sGPA is low and you still have time to fix this, work your butt off. It will only get harder in opto school.
