hello guys
my gpa has just been verified today and i was shocked 😕
GPA w/o +/- was more than 0.2 points lower than my transcript GPA (my school uses grading system that doesn't use minuses, which gives 3.5 for B+ and 2.5 for C+)
Also, there were like 0.1 discrepancies between GPA inc +/- and GPA w/o +/-.
i have ~3.55 BCP, 3.60 sGPA, and 3.58 cGPA for inc +/-
3.46 BCP, 3.51 sGPA, and 3.46 cGPA w/o +/- 😡

do you guys know which GPA system do dentals report for their average GPA of matriculants??

Thanks in advance!

I'm actually a little interested as well since I have the same grading scale.

Does anyone know which GPA the admissions committee prefers to look at?
Do they look at w/+/- or w/o +/-?

Just wondering what is the purpose of having both. My school had plus and minuses. Science gpa went up 0.2 with plus and minuses.

I think it just helps schools better understand your transcript, and I'm not sure if one or the other is more important. For example, if two people have very similar GPAs, but one got a bunch of A-'s while the other got a bunch of B+'s, then the discrepancy between these two candidates widens when w/o +/- is considered. The A-'s will be 4.0 and B+'s will be 3.0 (i think). So, maybe it just helps the adcoms dissect our applications a little more. I may be wrong, but that is what I've gathered from it.

ok thanks. yeah that makes a lot more sense. and i'm sure each dental school looks at the gpa differently than others.

Basically this. Separates the A-'s from B+'s, B-'s from C+'s, and so on.

My school did not give +/- grades so a B+ was a B, etc. In quite a few classes, I got an 89% (B+) but my transcript says B. How does AADSAS calculate this. Will they just add my grades along with +/- ?

nope, it would just be a "B"

Sorry, one more question. My main University that I attended DID have the +/- system. What would happen in this case? I am trying to anticipate if my calculated grades will go up like some people report, or down. I'm assuming they would just get left alone since the +/- are already there.

D school GPAs written on AADSAS official guide to dental schools are including +/- grades.
