I'm a nontrad and am concerned about gpa. Didn't focus on prereq's at all in undergrad or during M.S. degree but am taking what I need now. As with most nontrads, my undergrad gpa is path dependent and not fully representative of my performance abilities because any prereq's taken before postbac study were backseated to degree specific courses--in my case mechanical engineering courses.

Let's say other facets (rec letters, volunteering, mcat score) are average compared to admitted applicants. Is my GPA going to hurt me? It will take several extra postbac classes to move the sGPA needle up to 3.80. Will my path dependent study be considered by adcoms?

Undergrad:
cGPA = 3.38
sGPA = 3.65

Grad school:
cGPA = 3.87
sGPA = none

Postbac:
cGPA = 4.0
sGPA = 4.0

Total:
cGPA = 3.51
sGPA = 3.75

Your numbers are great. There are lots of schools that reward reinvention as well. Start with your state schools.
