Just wondering what's the highest jump someone has seen in there GPA due to retakes. I am trying to get it to a more respectable range of 3.3-3.4ish [if its possible]. If my math is correct which I could be off a bit since I am tired due to a few retakes [of some c+'s] and other credits now my overall gpa is from 2.85 to 3.05 which I am thrilled about. My only dilemma is I wonder how much more beneficial it will be to me to keep doing retakes for business type classes like advanced economics and most of my lower grades at this point are C range. I am trying to focus primarily on my sci pre-req's but I am torn between doing these retakes to make my GPA more 'appealing'

Has anyone else also been successful with a large GPA boost.......

thanks

this is probobly not the best idea to make your gpa more appealing.
What will make your apps better is taking some harder upper level science classes and proving to adcoms that you can handle it.
Retaking business classes that have nothing to do with medicine is probobly just waste of time and money.
Concentrate on pre-reqs and sciences. Ace eveything from now on. Have a one heck of semester and prove them you can do it
:luck:

Yeah Im torn between these dumb biz classes to replace some C's and ignoring them but having a much lower overall GPA. My main focus is to be as competitive as possible of course I want to do well on the MCAT's but I hate putting all my eggs in 1 basket

Maybe my case doesn't apply to this thread, but I went from a 2.74 undergrad GPA to a 4.0 currently in Grad school. If you put your mind to it, you can definitely buckle down and get that A.

my gpa after my fresman 1st semester was a miserable 2.25.....slackin off not caring about anything.....EVERY semester my gpa has improved and now that im a junior getting ready to apply my gpa has gone to a 3.45 science and 3.40 overall.......it can be done for all those that start out slow...and hell, it shows you're determined......takes a lot of work, but just stick with it!🙂

My friend had an awful undergrad record. He only took 4 science classes though (two pre-reqs) and two labs and he had a science GPA of 1.6 when he graduated college. He went back two years later, retook those 4 classes and labs and his overall science GPA is now a 4.0 for DO schools. Since MD schools don't replace, it's only a 2.3 or so for MD schools, but he went from a 1.6 to a 4.0 just by retaking.

He only took four science classes and satisfied his prereqs for medical school?
