hey all,

so when you apply to dental school, up to what point is your gpa considered on your app (spring junior year, or up to fall senior year)?

also, is it still necessary to take science courses throughout the course of senior year?

cheers.

I'm assuming your gpa is calculated up until spring/summer classes before senior year. Then you put your Fall schedule into the "Future courses" section and send them an academic update (new transcript) after the Fall semester. I'm assuming you go to Rutgers, have you talked with someone in the HPO office?

At the time you submit your AADSAS application, you'll include all courses taken and those that are currently being taken and planned. If you submit your application on May 15 (the earliest) then the latest semester completed was the spring (or winter, what ever you call it). And yes, you'll have an opportunity to update your transcripts later in the cycle.

Do you have to take science classes even in your senior year? If you're not a science major then no. But don't be the guy who does the minimum. Schools that you'll be applying to will have "suggested" or "highly recommended" courses. Take as many of those that you can. I get a sense that schools are interested in upperdivision science classes. Show that you are interested in science and can handle it, that's what Dental school will be made up of anyway. Unless you have all those classes completed before your senior year then I don't think it'll really matter. gl

What if we submit our application May 13th, and then take Physics in the summer, which will change the BCP GPA. Do we send them a transcript after the summer? And will they take the change into consideration (if it increases the BCP GPA)?

Thanks!

aadsas won't process your application until an official transcript reaches their office. so if you were to send in your transcript after your summer physics course, your application won't be processed until then..it will be as if you didn't submit your application until after you submitted your transcript

Oh sorry, I meant to say if I send a transcript at the time of application in May. And update them by sending another transcript after the Summer?

you can only send in your transcript a total of two times per application cycle--the first one that has your grades since frosh year which will allow aadsas to send out the application to the schools you are applying to, and a second one that will update your gpa with your summer and fall courses. so to answer your question, if you send in your transcript before your physics class, you can't send in another transcript until sometime in november (which will include your summer and fall courses) to update your aadsas gpa. hope this helps!

Cool, thanks!!

Make sure that you -Dynamo vpered- send the transcripts not too early b/c everything received before May, 15 will not be processed by AADSAS. Don't worry if you send them on May,15 as I did, you won't be behind in the cycle.
Good luck.
