If you get a C- in a chem class, and then retake it and get an A how does it affect your GPA. Do dental schools average the two grades, or is there some other method. Also what is a competitive GPA when applying to dental school? I am just a freshman right now

AADSAS (the clearinghouse for dental schools) will average both grades when calculating your GPA.
The advised GPA is around a 3.5.
you dont want anything below that; but this is all relative to the schools u apply to.
best,
dan

as high as possible? the higher the "easier" for you to get into dental school. but you dont want to focus all your time studying. doing ECs are also important.

wasn't easy for me to get in...and i had a pretty high gpa. From personal experience, I'd say aim for a competitive gpa, but do lots of stuff to show commitment to dent and service to the under served.
