Help – GPA with COVID P/F

Hi everyone,

I really need help figuring out how to calculate my GPA and sGPA for AADSAS. During COVID, I made a huge mistake—I made two core science classes (bio and chem) Pass/Fail, thinking it would protect my GPA. I thought I was being smart, but I regret it so much now. I didn’t realize how badly schools want to see letter grades. I tried to petition to reverse it, but it got denied.

I honestly don’t even know what grade I got—probably a B or B-—but I had to choose P/F before finals, and now I’ll never know.

I’m also a business major and retook a finance class, not sure how that plays into things.

Please, can someone tell me:

1. Do I include those P/F science classes in my GPA or sGPA?
2. Should I just assume the worst (like a C-) when calculating?
3. Did I mess up my chances completely?

Any help would mean the world. I’m really stressing out over this.

Thank you for the reassurance! I think I've been overthinking how adcoms might view those P/F grades, especially since I usually opt for letter grades. Good to know it’s not a huge deal given the circumstances. Appreciate the #dontworryaboutit energy

COVID messed with a lot of registrars as emergency policies were approved forcing or opting grades to be pass/fail depending on the school. It was a complete mess, so if your P/F marks came during spring 2020, fall 2020, or spring 2021, adcoms shouldn't penalize you as long as your registrar explained how they changed the grading system. Even if you had the chance to opt for a regular letter grade, it was clear many students struggled with online delivery. A lot of those effects can be observed in today's classrooms in medical/health professions programs (anecdotally).
