  1. Pre-Pharmacy
Hi! I had quick question.
When the pharmacy schools state that they want GPA requirement of at least 2.5 for some schools 3.0 for others.....
is that the GPA for only the prereq classes or the overall GPA that's calculated by PharmCAS.

If they look at prereq classes GPA first, do the schools calculate it themselves? or is there one done by PharmCAS?

Thanks!

Every school has its own standard. This question is too general, and could not be answer.

call the schools of your interest to find out about their admission policy instead of posting this kind of question on the forum.

I know schools like UIC have a 2.75 GPA. However, this is a minimum for all GPAs. So cumulative, pre-reqs, science-math each have to be above 2.75. But yes, like Humper was saying each school has different standards. check with each one.

South Park is such a great show.

Ahh yes it's all coming back to me now. Agree 100% 👍

I want to apply for a pharmacy school next year. I already have my first degree from a foreign country and working on my second degree here. My GPA is good from the first Bachelors, but GPA of the second degree that I am pursuing right now is not good.
Most of the pre-req (science pre-reqs) for pharm school that I have completed are from my first bachelors. I want to know if the GPA of my second degree would matter for the pharmacy school admission.
I have to work on the rest of pre-reqs yet and I will make sure to have good GPA for those.
I appreciate ur replies.

All the coursework you have taken will be counted, including your second degree.

I started taking pre-req along with my regular degree course work and I was mainly focussing on pre-req. I think I should better not take any pre-req next sem and focus on my second degree first.
Thanks for replying

Whatever you think is best. If you feel that your courseload is hindering good performance in those classes, then by all means reduce your courseload. Perhaps you can fit in one pre-req next semester in addition to the courses required for your degree. Don't be afraid to take your time. Overloading yourself will only make you burn out and you might not do well. That's not worth it.
