I am a rising senior and applying to OD schools this summer. Does anyone know how much effect my GPA from this upcoming year (my senior year) will have on my chances of getting in (if it has any)?

Are you bringing up a less than stellar GPA? Or, are you trending downards after performing well your first few years?
The best person to ask is the admissions counselor at the schools you are applying to (can't stress this enough) but if SDN posters are going to comment, a little more information would be helpful. 🙂
Ok. I'll try to be more specific. I am a rising senior and applying to schools right now. Will the schools even look at any of GPA from this upcoming year when considering me for admission? Obviously, if they do, then the higher the GPA the better.

The schools can look at three sets of GPAs, your cumulative, science, and last 45 credits GPA. Because your senior GPA will be a part of all of those, the answer is yes, they will look at it. If you are hoping to coast this year... wait until you already have that acceptance letter in your hand!
But that letter should be the final acceptance letter!
Even after you get in you should be mindful that your acceptance is not final until after your degree has been posted.
Sure, a little lower than what you typically get is probably no cause for concern... but don't get a 2.0 and expect to have your seat available come August/September of 2008.
