Hi,

I transferred to my current school last semester. Do medical schools consider both the GPA that I earned at my current school (which include only the classes at that school) and my overall GPA (al the classes that I have ever taken)? Which one is more important? Also, is science GPA more important than cumulative GPA or vice versa?

Medical schools break down your grades and classes by before undergrad, during undergrad, and after undergrad. Your GPA is recalculated for the purpose of medical school application so it doesn't matter what your GPA on your transcript is, all grades for classes that were taken at US institutions will count towards your AMCAS GPA.

Science GPA is typically considered more important, but you would ideally have high GPAs all around. It is more common for students to have a lower science GPA.

We look at ALL GPAs. They're all important too. Some schools may favor one a bit more than the other. If you look at MSAR, the avg sGPA is maybe 0.1 lower than the avg cGPA.
