GPA Verified - ouch!

My GPA was just verified and it took some hits lol. Received my transcripts on the 19th so they are really pumping them out. Good luck to everybody still waiting!

science: 3.14
nonscience: 3.18
overall: 3.16
(most of my damage was done freshman and first semester of sophomore. since I've been almost 4.00 every semester)

80 hrs shadowing along with two summers of genetics research (hopefully will be getting close to published by graduation, reviewing soon) and 3 excellent letters (one from PI) along with the standard honors societies and what not.
Please feel free to tell me what you think of my chances as I am FREAKING out here haha.

Don't worry. They really look for upward trend here. Your application will be reviewed and your DAT scores are excellent. You'll be alright!

Yea my first choices are BU, UNL, UPENN, Minnesota, Tufts but I'm applying to just under 15 schools to try and offset that ugly GPA. Most likely to get into for me I hear is Arizona, Midwestern and BU.

Don't worry! Those gpas are similar to mine and but your DAT is a bit higher than mine. I've gotten my first interview invite, so I'm sure you'll get interviews too! And I agree with the above, your upward trend will help you a lot! Good luck! 🙂

GPA is low-ish, but not low enough to be a hindrance. You have a solid DAT score so you'll definitely land some interviews, from there you can impress them with ECs etc. Of course the best thing is that you applied to many schools. Good luck!

I'm in a similar boat. 3.74 BCP, 3.55 science, 3.16 overall and 2.70 non-science (the horror!). I've gone through all the motions of "yeah, I have an upward trend so it won't be a problem" to "my GPA is awful and I'm never getting into dental school." Actually, I go through the full range of motions every day. Twice.

I'm trying to stay positive and just hope for an interview at this point. Finances limited me to only applying to 4 schools which makes it much worse, and I only have a realistic shot at 3 of them. Here's to us freshmen failures trying to make it big!

I heard that! Yea I just took the plunge and took out a loan against my truck to pay for my apps lol! I honestly find it to be bull**** the amount of money they expect us to dole out as undergrad students! Where are we supposed to get it? It really bothers me how much money they have to be making on this.
