I know this question will probably depend on the exact school and it would be difficult to generalize, but I'll ask it anyways:

My question to you is: do some schools consistently place a greater emphasis on GPA over DAT scores or at least accept someone with decent/mediocre DAT scores as long as they have a fairly high GPA?

In other words, is having a solid DAT score an absolute prerequisite (save for some exceptions) for admission into d-school regardless of GPA, or can a high GPA compensate for poor DAT scores?

I'm going into my junior year and my GPA is about a 3.87 right now, sci GPA is about 3.9. I'm fairly happy with both GPA's.

I took the DAT for the first time earlier this month and I received the following scores:

RC - 18
QR - 18
PAT - 19
Bio - 19
G. Chem - 21
O. Chem - 20
TS - 20
AA - 19

So...my DAT scores are somewhere between being average and slighly on the low side.

I'm not planning on applying to any of the Ivey-leagues, but I do plan on applying to about 10-12 private schools (including Tufts, Temple, NYU, etc.).

Do you think I would have a good shot at getting at least some interviews/acceptances assuming that I keep my GPA consistent?

Thanks! (and sorry if I come off sounding a little neurotic... 😀 )

I think your DAT scores are well balanced and very good!
With that decent DAT scores and excellent GPA of yours, I really don't think you should worry.

I think you're being neurotic and I would know cause I'm neurotic too. None of your DAT scores are under 18, your AA is 19, your GPA is superb, and you don't care about getting into the top schools. Would you like to set a wager w/ me for your chances to get in to d-school?
