Ok I feel like I'm gonna sound ignorant here. However I have no idea. So I'm wondering when you look on a schools website and they give statistics about average gpa's of entering students, is this gpa your cumulative gpa from your undergrad, or is it the gpa that the medical schools admissions office determines? Thanks in advance for any responses.🙂

I think it's the average cumulative undergrad GPA, but I'm not sure whether its the same for people who already have graduate degrees(whether they include graduate school GPA)

The medical schools will not calculate your gpa. AMCAS will. I'm pretty sure that the gpas that are reported are the gpas AMCAS calculates on your primary application. So...No, the cumulative gpa from your undergrad is not used for admissions statistics as it is not used for admissions. My cum ugrad gpa was different than the one amcas calculated. And...No, medical school admissions offices don't determine your gpa for admission so I doubt they would go through the trouble of calculating them just for their admissions statistics. I figure since the gpa used for admissions purposes is the one calculated by AMCAS, that is also the gpa that will be used for admissions stats.
