GPA with retakes

I mentioned I'd ask AAMC about how GPAs are calculated with retakes and post it here with a thread that Farrah started... well here is their response (by the way, I especially like the " foe more information..."):

Say my first attempt on a 5 unit class, I have an F (0.00) and on second
attempt an A (4.00) . Will this get factored into my GPA as 5 units of 2.00 or 10
units of 2.00?

They are stupid. It's going to be like 10 units of 2.00.
