may i know did u send transcrpit or marksheet to wes ?

@ cosmeticdentist dude, the ECE/WES conversion for the grade is just their opinion on your situation. How I see it you can do one of two things. 1) Call ECE and complain of your low score, if you have some way of showing them that you are better 2) Work with it, mention it in your SOP, and have a good resume/everything else. Then hopefully get an interview where you can explain to them why the conversion was low and you feel u are a higher GPA student

Hope it helped

So many views and no comments...Guys pleas contribute your opinions and comments...this is an informative thread for people in similar situation...thank you..🙂

I know a few students who got in with 2.7 gpa.The key is to never give up.The admissions committee is not seeing if you have a great score (some of them do)..rather they look for someone who is motivated to make it into the field.I personally know someone who had this gpa, part 1 86,passing part 2 and worked as DA for 2 years. She also added CE courses to her credit, bought a home set up and practiced a lot.As a reapplicant, she went all out to give it her best shot in the bench test and personal interviews. She went on from rejections to wait list and then 3 acceptances!

Let me put it this way...once you are called for an interview, stick this theory into your head:You are as good as others, else they would not call you! I would personally advice NOT to mention your low gpa in your SOP because the committee already has your stats.Don't emphasize on your weak points..emphasize on your strong ones.Show them what you did despite the gpa. So once you crossed the stage of being called for an interview, all you need to show is you deserve that spot...you deserve that interview call.Good luck!

There are schools that give importance to your hand skills. In most of the schools, there is point system for each part of your profile.Points are given to your bench exam, personal interview, scores, toefl,SOP and the one who scores the most is accepted. If one of your stats are less..you must work double hard to compensate it.Make note that the schools that conduct bench exam call many students..so out of 150 students, only 12 or so are accepted. Some of them go through the AEGD programs, others work on more than 500 teeth and are good at their work. This and many other factors like in state, visa make things tough. So don't wait for others to motivate you...you need to get that within yourself and start working.

Hey buddy Lotus99...isnt the basic requirement for a GPA supposed to be above 2 (as given on UOP n UCSF websites for instance)then why this hullabaloo?????...that darn ECE has a strange method of evaluation...i was a good student...yeah i did repeat a subject in 1st n 2nd year though but overrall i have been a good student and a good clinician after that so why this importance on GPA and i see nowadays freshers with no clinical experience ...etc just get through DDS admissions because of their GPAs...discriminating isnt it? people throw some light on this...also how is gonna be in 2012...the admission criteria????:xf:

The answer to your question lies in my second post.Higher the gpa (and any other stat),higher will be your overall point score. As far as your fresher comment goes, don't compete with anyone but yourself. God has plans for everyone. Some schools may take freshers with higher gpa..but their patient input /clinical exposure might be less,or the location may not be suitable, program is expensive etc etc.(even if it is not so,just think on those lines and it gives you a big relief:laugh:).Forget this "gpa hullabaloo" and concentrate on the other stuff. You can't change this but you can certainly change the other aspects, right? So why worry about the past?Good luck!

my GPA ECE was comprehensive 1.97. Best (2.02) and I have got accepted in UIC. Get a good NBDE 1 mine was 91 , good experience and personal letter and pray for the best

Please elaborate on your experience.

14 years outside USA and 4 months observation in the states

Great to hear that you were able to get in with around 2.0 GPA, that give some hope to such applicants, would you please confirm which year you got the acceptance, I believe in the 2012 cycle ?! do u have part II? most important when you evaluated your degree before or after July 2010 ?

2012
no part 2
before july 2010

As it's been said over and over here, one score by itself will not put you out, unless schools asked for a minimum.

Look them up one by one and you'll figure out your chances.

Good luck!
