This really should be moved to the Pre-dent section, and not be in the DAT section, but anyways... You need to count every single class you've ever taken anywhere at the college level, including that bowling class you took at your local community college. Also, depending on the school they may or may not use +/- , so AADSAS calculates the grades both ways. For A+, AADSAS gives 4.3 points.
Here's what the AADSAS website says for determining which classes go in which section:
Course Subject
Use your best judgment to classify your courses as either Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Other Science (Sciences other than biology-chemistry-physics), or Non-Science. Use the examples below as guidelines.
Biology
Examples: Anatomy
Biology
Biochemistry
Biophysics
Botany
Chemistry
Genetics
Medicine
Microbiology
Neuroscience
Pathology
Pharmacology
Pharmacy
Physics
Physiology
Zoology
Chemistry
Examples: Biochemistry (if offered by a chemistry department)
Chemistry
General Chemistry
Inorganic Chemistry
Organic Chemistry
Chemistry for Engineering Majors (offered through engineering programs
Physics
Examples: Biophysics (if offered by a physics department)
Physics
Other Science Courses (Other science courses that do not fall under the categories of Biology, Chemistry or Physics
Examples: Agriculture
Animal Sciences
Astronomy
Clinical Sciences
Nutrition
Engineering
Health Technology
Geology
Kinesiology
Mathematics
Physical Sciences
Plant Sciences
Sports Sciences
Non-Science Courses (Humanities, Social Sciences, Health Services, Business and miscellaneous courses)
Examples: Anthropology

But a quick question would ur major classes count in the GPA for dental prerequesites like what i mean is that let say Genetics is not required for dental school so would it count thx

Some colleges give you 2 grade forgivenesses, where you can retake the course and omit the original grade from your GPA.
I did something similar, I got a D in Ochem the first time I took it because some personal things came up, and I took it again and got a better grade. The College let me not count the first grade in my GPA calculations, but AADSAS says that you need to show both. So really, the grades just average out.
As for that enviormental science, it would count towards your science GPA, but would go in the other science catagory. There are 3 GPA's that they look at - Overall Cumulative, Overall Science, and the combined Biology, Chemistry and Physics grades. So the Envi Sci class would be lumped in to overall science, unless it was given through the biology department. If it was given through the Biology department, and it has Biology in the course title, for example "Biology 150: Enviormental Science" then you could list it as biology, if not, it would be other science.
When you go through and put in every single class you've ever taken on AADSAS you are forced to classify it as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Other Science, or Non-Science.
Hope that clears some things up!
Thanks Vic. It's good to know that a A+ counts as a 4.3. I recalculated my gpa with every class I took and it was 3.65 versus 3.57 without A+ counting as 4.3.
I had no idea A+ counts as a 4.3. Is that definitely true?
Cool thanks Vic. My Envi Sci course was through the Bio department so that is nice. Would you classify any of these classes as other science?
Wilderness Medicine
Health and Optimal Aging(taken through Gerontology dept)
Community Health Issues
I know they are a stretch, Im just trying to see what classes I can count to boost my sci gpa. I also took statistics through the psychology dept and I was annoyed to read that it wouldnt count as a math class, even though it was seriously a heavy math course. That should be changed.

I'm really not too sure anymore about A+ being 4.3, considering my school didn't have such as thing as a A+; however, they had minuses, and B+, C+ etc. If your school doesn't do A+, then how can AADSAS determine if you had an A+ or a solid A in a course.

If your school has A+, then it will show up as such on your transcript. Also, when you go to put your grades in, A+ is one of the options to pick.
To clear something up, some dental schools do not do + / - grades, they just do straight A/4 B/3 C/2 . At these schools, an A+ only counts as a 4.0. But at dental schools that count +/- , AADSAS counts these as 4.3 .
Shorty - It really depends what department they're through. I took Freshwater Field Ecology and since it was through the Bio department it went under bio. So I'm assuming Wilderness Med will also go under bio, depending on the department. That gerontology class would probably be considered medicine, so I'd put that under Biology. Community health issues depends on the department it's offered from - if it's from a Public Health department it's non-science, but if it's from the Bio Department it's Bio.
