better contact every school you are interested in, and see what their requrements are. i think that they are different from school to school ,but i might be wrong. probably you must apply for every program seprately. you can check rochester dental school, since it is near to toronto and they have residensy programs.

i have applied for the advance program in general dentistry at the university of minnessota
i did recieve an email from them that they have recieved my application and everything is in order
they will review the application in december and the interviews are scheduled in january
I think it is very good program and I would definately prefer to do residency as it carries a lot of weight when you apply for the IDP programs
and the best part of this program at the university of minnessotta is there is no tution fees though they don't pay you any stipends
Also they did not even charge any application fee
Since I have been accepted at UCSF, I would not be pursuing this any more
but I hope this information helps you and othe sdn people to seek admission next year

gpr means general practise residency and idp means international dentist program

i don't think that by just doing a gpr course you can practise dentistry in usa
you need dds degree and clear the regional board exams
gpr is done after the DDS program by students who want more experience before they go into private practise
gpr programs are usually for graduates of us or canadian schools but some universities like u of minnessotta do consider applications from foreign graduates
but i think states like minnessotta which are considering applications from foreign graduates to take the minnessotta boards would look positively if you have done gpr programs and would allow you to take their boards faster than the others
please other people who have experience regarding this , can correct me if i am wrong
