Hello, I am going to be a new grad student this August, and I would like to include this in my AMCAS schools list, so they know where I will be next year. The AMCAS app says that transcript is required, but I haven't taken classes or signed up yet, although I am registered to be a student. Do I have to send a completely blank transcript? If I don't, will this delay verification?

Anyone been in a similar situation that might know what to do?

Thanks!

One question. Are you going to be in a 1-year master's program? Many med schools will want you to finish the program and get the degree before you matriculate. If you're in a traditional 2-year master's program and applying to med school this year, I'm not sure how it's going to work out for you.

My understanding is that, in terms of coursework, you're supposed to put on the AMCAS app what you have done so far, not what you will be doing. Maybe you can mention your graduate program on your secondary app or you can send your graduate transcript to schools of your choice later in the application cycle. But, honestly, I'm not quite sure on this, so hopefully somebody else can better answer your question.

Well, if we are talking about a 2 year masters program, then you either do the masters, or start med school next year. Can't do both.

You can definitely send your transcript and updated grades and whatever else later on in the cycle. Just indicate in your PS that you will be doing a Masters. Alternatively, some students apply by adding the Masters school, and indicating courses as Future/Current, or whatever that option is. This worked successfully last year - I'd call AMCAS to verify it can still be done.

Good luck!

I would of course finish the master's before entering medical school. I am going to try and do it in one year, which is possible. If not, I suppose I would be looking at a deferral for a year.

I didn't mention the masters in the PS, but I have expected graduation for my masters as May 2010 in the course work section. Any thoughts?
