I made a thread earlier about how I was going to get a C or B in a course that >90% of people get As in. Impressive stuff.

However, grades are now out, and I noticed that on my transcript the grade I got is WRONG (unless I don't know how to add). And significantly in my favor. I know what I should have gotten - that is a C-. But I have an A.

What should I do?

Are you saying that you know >90% of your classmates earned As, or is this a class that you just know traditionally awards >90% As? If the latter, is it possible there's a curve applied to final grades that accounts for that, and for your posted grade?

Most likely explanation is that you have no idea of the grading scale 😛

Leave it at what it is; you are under no obligation to point out that you got a wrong grade in your favor.

PS If 90% of the class gets an A, you should not need to study for tests at all

Lol, maybe Santa listened to you and gave you an early Christmas present. Well the question here is, do you want to continue to be a "good" or "naughty" boy? Only you can answer to that 😉

I had already gotten over the fact that I would have basically failed my easiest class and aced the hardest ones. But I can't say that I want to return or re-gift this present 😉.

In the future, I suggest you take more courses where you use acid/base knowledge 😉

Edit: I kid, I kid.

OP are you trying to show off?
"No... I just wanted to say that I'm awesome. That can't possibly be showing off, can it? If so, I'm sorry for being so awesome! Oops! My classmates are such suckers for taking so much more time than me studying and getting the same grade!"

Lull. Same guy who made a thread about getting his first A-.

Sounds like an end of course scale. I would NOT check to make sure.

Correct. If you were given the wrong grade it is not your fault. I'm not going to go into what's right and wrong, but like allenlchs said, you have no obligation watsoever to bring this up.

But I honestly think you underestimated yourself or just don't understand the grading system.

Merry Christmas @Teleologist --

If you want to do the right thing, go visit the professor when you get back to school and explain that you were surprised to see the A on your transcript because you had done so poorly on the first exam. State (hopefully this is true) that you worked hard for the rest of the semester and thought you had pulled your grade up somewhat, but didn't think you had been able to make up quite that much ground, and that you wanted to do the right thing. If you can work it into the conversation, state that in that as someone who will be applying to medical school, your GPA is very important; but that as someone who hopes to be a doctor, your character and integrity are even more important.

Bet you get to keep the A. With a clear conscience.

As a TA for a class that has over 1000 students in all sections,

I can tell you that the professor wouldn't give a damn if he made a mistake in someone's favor. In fact everybody knows that mistakes happen, and that they are made both for and against students favor.
