In my first semester in college, i took this Science and society class (kinda like philosophy) and received a D+ , the class just consisted of 5 exams and the exams were in essay form. i was the only freshman in the class actually.

now i am a junior and that D+ i received is haunting me, if i never took that class my GPA would be 0.1 higher

My univ has a grade forgiveness policy but can it take away the D+ from the transcript ? there is no point in retaking b/c my gpa wouldn't improve much and that class is not even a pre-req

Is there a way to get it off my transcript or do i have to just live with it ?

You have to live with it, there is no way to get it off of your transcript. All of your classes you take will be on there and sent to the dental schools you apply to.

so basically D schools only look at the AADSAS GPA instead of the gpa on the transcript ?

b/c if i do retake and get higher than D+ and do grade forgiveness, my univ. GPA would be higher so would dental schools look at transcript gpa, AADSAS gpa or both ?

I wouldn't worry too much about it, so long as your grades have improved over the years and don't linger around a C.0 average.

Once you are ready to apply, the application process gives you plenty of opportunity to explain any academic hardships that you may have encountered throughout your undergrad career. This sounds like something that you defend and explain how it made you a better student in the long run.

Leave it alone. Don't retake it. Now if it was a pre-req science course, then consider re-taking...but relax and move on. Good luck!

DO NOT RETAKE! The application process is very tedious, and you will be required to put the D in your grade history REGARDLESS if you re-take the course.

Retaking the class will NOT mask the original grade, there is no way to make the grade disappear.

okay

yeah my gpa is kinda low now i have 3.4 when i could've had 3.5 but whatever

my gpa after my first semester in college was 2.73, i certainly improved even though i have couple C's in chem and bio but i did well in Upper level courses like cellbio, genetics and immuno.

i hope the D School look at the improvement

there IS a way to make the grade disappear if you had some issues during school (i.e., hardship withdrawal), you can file this after the quarter/semester is done. but of course that would be in a case IF you had some issues (death of a family member, medical reasons, etc).

Don't worry about it. Get your GPA up by learning from your mistakes and getting good grades from now on. Even with that D+ if you work hard you should be able to get a high GPA.
