zoral, what the hell are you talking about man? First of all, I was defending you from TJ Nova. Next, my only comment about you is that you have no idea what you are talking about as far as how biochem in d-school. It is absolutely true that you have no clue what you are talking about since you have NEVER been to d-school! Next year, you will. Now, you don't. Everythign you state is 2nd hand. And, I never mentioned anything about YOUR ability to handle biochem. Maybe you need to re-read posts before you take offense as you clearly have here.
Now, as far as biochem goes for the OP, do you know why he/she has a C+? There are a lot of possible reasons why. But no matter what, you have no clue that it will suck for the OP since you have absolutely nothign to compare it to.
As for my grade in undergrad vs d-school, please take note that it was 13 yrs between taking it. Now, I will give it to you that I did do well before, so one would think that I should do just fine. But, the OP obviously did fine enough in his/her other science classes that the school accepted him/her. So, I bet you that they will still feel he will be able to handle their courses even with a C+. IF I were a betting man, I would bet the OP will do just fine even with getting a C+ in undergrad biochem.
Bragging - I wasn't bragging - just making a comment. Who is the one bragging here? " I could get a C+ without even going to class". If my comment came across as bragging, it was not intented as I was stating how d-school biochem was still a little harder for me. Yours, well, it is clearly obvious that it was.
Biochem .... yes, there is a certain amount that ties directly into dentistry that is good to know, but in order to be a good dentist you don't have to be able to recite biochem info. You don't need to be able to remember all the enzymes. You don't need to be able to know all the steps of translation and transcription. Etc. You just need to understand the basic principles and how they relae to the medical systems. Great, if you can retain that info, more power to you. But as long as you can understand what is going on if a patient has a certain medical condition, then that is all you need to remember for the most part. Any of the fine details can be researched. Now, if you want to get into the who you would want to work on your wouth arguement, in a heartbeat I would take a person who got a C+ over an A+ student anyday if that A+ student's hand skills suck. It is not uncommon for adademically inclined students to have trouble with hand skills. I know plenty of people who are in the bottom half of the class because of their didactic abilities who excel in the lab courses and the clinic. I'll take a dentist with average scores in the basic sciences with excellent hand skills over a brilliant student with average hand skills any day. Blah ... blah .... blah.....
Your status time on SDN .... I was not bashing you. I was bashing the other guy... who was claiming you as a newbie. He was the one I was calling out because he hasn't been a member that much longer than you. Please read the posts before you get pissed as you clearly misunderstood what was written.
You don't like my attitude .... you're the one who took offense. You are the one who started getting pissed off and insulting. I just said you don't know what you are talking about since you have NO experience! You claim my attitude was poor, so my words aren't credible. Shoot, read your words in your last post. If my words, aren't credible, what do you call yours? Ouch.
bla. bla. bla. what haven't you done?
Look buddy, I commend you for your efforts. But as you can clearly see, I want to specialize. I will not be satisfied with much below an A. If a person gets a C+ in UNDERGRAD biochem (at a school that has an optional final, huh?..must not have learned too much..), then I'm sorry, but dental school biochem will suck... You said it was okay for you in ds, but you also got mid 90s in undergrad...
Brag some more about your efforts. I could care less.
I could get a C+ in biochem without even going to class. I sure as hell wouldn't want that person working on my mouth.....and tell me this, tell me that..."biochem isnt necessary." bla bla bla....
Get real. And rather than blatantly bashing my words...id suggest a different approach next time...It might actually sound a little credible.
Ya know, I don't like your attitude. I don't care if my status says I've been here for 2 years, 8 years. I could make an account and appear to be a practicing gd...and post..would that mean my words were more important? ha.
This is enough irritation for me tonight. Best of luck.
