The class i did poorly in was a 3 credit science course with a separate 1 credit lab score. I received a C in the 3.00 hour lecture, and an A in the 1.00 lab. I retook the class after moving, and when I apply I'm not sure what I should do. The class at the different university was a 4.00 credit course with lecture/lab all-in-one.

When i submit, do i put it where the 4.00 credit retake i did better in replaces just the 3.00 lecture from before? That way i replace the 3 credits with 4, but still keep my A in the lab.

Or, do i use the 4.00 credit lecture/lab combined which I received an A in and have it replace both the 3.00 lecture and 1.00 lab?

I'm not sure what is correct. Anyone have an idea? @Goro ?

I believe AACOMAS has a specific policy for this type of thing but I can't recall off the top of my head. If I remember correctly, you can replace a class if the new one has at least the same number of hours as the original. But I don't think one class can replace two, so you may have to replace the lecture and leave the lab. This kind of question is probably best addressed by a call to AACOMAS. The guy I spoke to about transcripts was very helpful and friendly, so you may have some luck there. Sorry I can't offer a concise answer, but your best bet would probably be going to the source (AACOMAS). Good luck!

I'm not familiar with the logistics of filling out the AACOMAS app forms, sorry.

i'm not applying this cycle, but want to know for when i actually submit

You can still call them. That policy isn't likely to change anytime soon.

In fact, maybe you should call them and then post what they say so that other people on this forum who have the same question can find your thread and get the answer without having to start a brand new thread about it.

Except nobody uses the search function...........

I would also suggest contacting AACOMAS. But if you really don't want to or do not get a satisfactory answer, submit it as how you think it should be replaced. If it works, great, if not, they will correct it.

What you DO NOT want to do is wait.

Okay, i just called AACOMAS and my question was answered.
Recap: took a science course at 1st institution, 3.00 lecture separate 1.00 lab.
Retake the same science course at 2nd institution, 4.00 combined lecture/lab.

My question was, when i apply do I put a repeat for (a) 3.00 lecture OR (b) 3.00 lecture & 1.00 lab (even though my lab grade was higher than a C)

The answer was, it is based on an honor system: so long as the title and prefix of the course is the same, it is up to the individual to input the information correctly on their application. Thus, she said it IS acceptable to only replace the 3.00 credit lecture with the 4.00 credit course because it is (1) the same class title and prefix and (2) is =/> the # credits of the original.

So, when I apply I will zero out the initial course as 0.00 "C" but keep the lab 1.00 "A" and then insert retake lecture as 4.00 "A".
