Grade replacement for 2015-2016 cycle?

For the policy on grade replacement... does the repeated class have to be of equal or higher value (credit hours)?
I don't see that listed anywhere on the AACOMAS instructions.

Yes, credits have to be the same or greater. Otherwise everyone would take easier courses as retakes.

I called AACOMAS and they said this isn't true. Only course title must be the same or very similar. Specifically they said that my 5 quarter unit O-Chem 2 (equivalent to 3.3 semester units) could be replaced with UNE online O-Chem 2 that is 3 semester units.

In case it mattesr, I have completed O-Chem 1 and 2 lab which are 2 units each. O-Chem 1 lecture is also 5 units.

All of my retake courses were equal or greater in units. I did make minor mistakes in trying to let a class with less credit replace a higher credit course and it did not work!!!

Maybe it had to do with the higher credit course having the better grade.

A lot has changed this year which is why I haven't enrolled in the class yet. I'm focusing on taking as many retakes I can at the CC before starting online work.

Nope. They stated that the most recent attempt counts. No matter if the grades were higher or lower. Also, my retakes had much higher grades than my initial attempts.

I was told that they are going by an "honor policy" where a retake lower in credit can substitute an original course that was slightly higher, as long as the classes are similar in name/description.

Ex: Gen Chem 1 w Lab, 5 credits at school A
Retake Gen Chem 1 w Lab, 4 credits at school B.

Since the courses are the same, and only differ in a credit, the retake should count based on their policy. The key here is that the classes have to obviously be the same, as credit's for classes do vary between universities. General Chem/Bio, for example, are usually 4 credit courses a piece, but every now and then you run into schools that have them higher, such as 5 in the example case.

Also, for grade retakes at the SAME university, this does not apply. This applies only if your re-take is at a different university than the original one where the course was taken. If you are re-taking a course in the same university, I believe the course has to be EXACTLY the same. Same credits, same name, same description, even same Prefix.

Actually, it's because of a difference in semester and quarter unit conversions. A semester can replace a quarter course but not vice versa.

I was on quarters in undergrad and it was 10 weeks. I loved it. I always wished it went faster, though, tbh.

We have 3-week "mini-mesters" here in Tejas. Really lets you knock out the classes fast.

I didn't realize QH classes were quicker either. I would have definitely gone to a school with this system. I get bored out of my mind with 16 week semesters. The 4 week summer courses were my favotire!

Would you mind telling us (or PMing me) who sent that 1 dissenting email? I talked to a guy (name I forgot) that told me what I told you. Also, many on SDN have referred to 2 women (Vikki? and someone else) are being the managers and they confirmed what I and the first 3 people who emailed you have said.
