Hello all,

I am looking to replace a poor grade ("WF") I received in a Biochem course taken at a formal post-bac program (LECOM). I dropped out of this program and therefore did not receive the certificate for those who actually graduate.

However, I am confused as whether the grade earned in the post-bac program in said course is considered graduate or undergraduate level.

I am aware that an undergraduate course cannot replace a graduate course per AACOMAS grade replacement policy.
However, I am unsure of whether to retake it at an undergraduate local university or something else (graduate)?

Can someone help me out on this? 🙂

99 percent sure this is an ug level course.

I assume the course is numbered? (ie. BIOC 301, 401, etc.)

Around here, the first number in the course designates its "grade level". Of course it may not be that way in your neck of the woods.

So... 1 = Freshman, 2 = Sophomore, 3 = Junior, 4 = Senior, 5 = Master's, 6 = Doctoral

Most transcripts will tell you somewhere on it. I can't seem to access Lecom's website all day.

I tried logging into their portal but it won't let me access it anymore. It's probably because I dropped out from their post-bac several months ago.

I am not sure what the course numbering in the post-bac is.

However, for the DO program, the course catalog says "BCH 1003 Biochemistry Core 3.0 Credit Hours." Not sure what this entails...

If the course is part of the required DO curriculum, then I would assume it would be considered a graduate-level course.

This question could be answered rather quickly with a phone call to the school. 🙂

I'm not too knowledgeable in post-bac programs, but it's my understanding that the courses taken in formal post-bac programs offered specifically to gain admittance into medical school are applied (credit-wise) to the program if/when you get in. Basically, you are taking med-school level course without officially being accepted, simply to prove you can handle them.

On a side note... I'd be more concerned about having a good answer as to why you dropped out of the post-bac program versus the grade you received.

Yeah, that makes sense. I'll call them on Monday just to make sure. 🙂

I dropped because it wasn't mathamatically possible for me to pass the class with a "C." Per LECOM, if one fails any class in the post-bac program, then one is ineligible for an interview for admission into the DO program. Therefore, I had no choice but to withdraw.
