Hi all, I have a question. So I graduated a few years ago with a BIO degree and did terrible as an undergrad was a bad student 2.7SGPA, 2.8CGPA. Anyway I want to retake the pre-reqs at a cc near my home since its closer to home and cheaper. So my question is as an undergrad gen chem 1 was 4 credits and lab was a separate 1 credit course. At the cc gen chem 1 is a 4 credit course with lab and lecture combined. If i retook the class at cc would it replace my grade? Thanks.

Replace the grades you have a C or lower. Higher level courses > Lower level courses.

Are you saying the undergrad was 3 credits lecture and 1 credit lab (4 credits total) or 4 credits lecture and 1 credit lab (5 credits total)? You won't be able to replace the course if the credit load of the undergrad is greater than the credit load of the cc.

course number has to be ~equivalent and the hours of the retake will need to be > the original.

as far as replacing a separate lecture and lab with a lecture/lab combo... not so sure. might be best to call AACOMAS

Hi all,

Thanks for the responses. I wanted to update you guys on what AACOMAS said. I asked them if I retake a 4 credit general chemistry class with lecture and lab combined would that replace my undergrad general chemistry lecture only grade which was 4 credits, even though lab was another course by itself for 1 credit. They replied "Yes, you may list this as a repeat". Hmm I still don't know if I trust them lol at least I have their approval in writing.

did you get a name and/or reference number?

i mean i feel like they could still go back and just say that person was wrong, but i always get a name and/or a reference/call number. and record date/time.

True. Would it be weird to reply to their answer asking for a name?
